Foxtail Millet a Future Crop of PakistanOxtail millet (Setaria italica) is a common food in parts of India. Its health benefits in diabetic rats, produced a “significant fall (70%) in blood glucose” while having no such effect in normal rats. Diabetic rats fed millet also showed significantly lower levels of triglycerides, and total/LDL/VLDL cholesterol, while exhibiting an increase in HDL cholesterol. It is recently introduced in Pakistan.
Panjpir Rocks, Kahuta, Pakistan VlogPakistan is blessed with amazing landscape. Lot of sites are still un explored. Recently I saw a video where a guy was walking on the edge of a beautiful rock. It moved me. I discussed and found that it is near Rawalpindi, Kahuta. So we managed 4 people from Faisalabad and and in 6 h reached narar village. Very special feature of this place is dense pine forest, and suddenly you saw rocks, big rock dunes. Most of these rocks are on the edge of mountain peaks. So beautiful place.
Night tracking Margalla Hills, Islamabad, PakistanNight tracking was a dream. It was a fantasy and adventure. Due to summer heat it was my dream to get an experience of night tracking. Margalla was an automatic choice because of summer heat during day time. IHTC (Islamabad hiking and tracking club) posted many posts regarding night tracking. So i had a sudden plan and discussed with Faisal who immediately agreed and we 5 people from Faisalabad departed around 4.00 pm for Islamabad. 6 people joined from the capital. trail 5 was closed so we have to choose Trail 3. It was hot and humid when we started track around 9.15 pm. Only 1 guy with torch while rest had mobile lights. in 3 hours we reached Minal. No problem at all due to darkness. Enjoyed. Moringa Response on Saline ConditionsMoringa oliefera is known as a miracle plant. It is getting popularity world over as a highly beneficial plant. However, its response to saline conditions is rarely known. Salinity is a worldwide problem and in Pakistan more than 7 mha land is salt affected. Moringa has recently been introduced as a crop and getting popularity. Farmers are still confused about the type of the soil to be used for moringa. This study addresses this problem.This pot study explains the response of 4 moringa land-race on 4 saline conditions.
Which Moringa Type is Good for CultivationMoringa oleifera, locally called as "Sohanjna", is native to Punjab, Pakistan with its relatives in other parts of the world including India, Ghana, Cameroon, etc. For promising nutritional quality of moringa leaves being used as livestock fodder and plant growth enhancer, good oil quality of moringa seed oil and dietary potential of its roots, moringa is being a widely populated plant in dry tropics of the world. From last decade, many research trials have been conducted to optimise production technology and designing of post-harvest leaf processing technology. Here the research findings are being compiled briefly for different purposes. Excellent results of Bio fertilizer on Moringa cropBio-fertilizers are natural fertilizers. There are different types of bio-fertilizers like compost, charcoal, inoculam bacteria etc. These are natural and more effective than the chemical fertilizers because these provide all necessary nutrients to the plants. In this video 2 scientists Dr Shahzad Basra and Dr Naveed from University of agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan are demonstrating the effects of biofertilizers on moringa crop. Four varieties of Moringa, the superfood, crop were sown on April 16, 2020 and compost and a biofertilizer were applied. The crop responded excellently to the compost + inoculum + fertilizer while very poor to chemical fertilizer.
Organic farming with higher yields. Use Biofertilizers.Organic farming. It comes to mind that production of crop naturally without chemicals, better nutrition but lower yield. But Dr Naveed has proved that with his bio fertilizer yields are higher, even static yields are improving. I personally visited and witnessed more than 80 rice tillers per hill and very wonderful moringa crop. All you need is a fermentor, C source and inoculumn. University of Agriculture Faisalabad is willing to help the farmers.
